Our Story
Fragrant Garden’s journey began in the 1950s in Geylang Serai, where a passion for Teochew cooking first took root. What started as a humble venture has grown over the years into a trusted name, built on a deep respect for tradition and an unwavering focus on quality.
Guiding this journey is Koh Ah Liang, who has dedicated his life to mastering Teochew culinary craft. With decades of experience, he continues to lead the kitchen today — ensuring that every dish reflects the authenticity and balance that define true Teochew cuisine.
From its early days as a modest Zhi Char stall to its present home at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre, Fragrant Garden has remained committed to serving the community with honest, flavourful food.
Today, we are proud to be recognised as a destination for authentic Teochew dining in Singapore, where heritage recipes are preserved and shared across generations.

Our Signature Dishes
Steamed Pomfret in Teochew Style
Delicately steamed in authentic Teochew style, fresh pomfret is served with a light savoury broth of preserved vegetables, tomatoes, and salted plums, bringing out its natural sweetness with a balanced tangy and umami flavour.
Teochew Cold Crab
A classic Teochew delicacy, featuring fresh crab gently poached and served chilled to preserve its delicate texture and natural sweetness, perfectly paired with our homemade vinegar dip.
Sea Cucumber Duck
Tender braised duck and premium sea cucumber are slow-cooked in a rich, savoury sauce, creating a luxurious and refined dish that reflects traditional Chinese culinary craftsmanship.
Braised Duck
Fresh duck is slowly braised in a dark soy-based sauce and served over soft tofu that absorbs the gravy, offering balanced flavours and textures in traditional Teochew style.
Braised Pork with Steamed Bun
A classic dish of tender braised pork belly in a rich fragrant sauce, served with soft steamed buns for a comforting indulgence and a melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Prawn Roll
A signature in-house creation of fresh prawns paste are wrapped in beancurd skin, then deep-fried to a golden crisp for a juicy, savoury bite with rich traditional flavours.
Yam Paste
Silky Teochew-style yam paste, lightly sweetened and smooth, served with pumpkin, ginkgo nuts, and water chestnuts, finished with crispy fried shallots for a clean, naturally light dessert without pork lard.
Yam Sticks
Crisp yam sticks, lightly fried to a golden finish and coated with sugar and black sesame, offering a lightly sweet, nutty flavour with a traditional touch.
